WYANDOTTE — Riverton, Kan., jumped out to an early lead then coasted during a 48-42 victory over Wyandotte’s boys here Tuesday night.

“They are a pretty good team,” Wyandotte coach Paul Duncan said. “They are big and physical but we didn’t shoot the ball well. Once we got past the fact that they were bigger and physical, we were OK. I really was pretty happy with the way we played.”

The Rams jumped out to a 14-8 lead in the first quarter behind

Wes Hefley’s eight points. Hefley finished with 11 points in the game.

Riverton coasted into intermission with a 27-19 edge, then saw Wyandotte hold 11-10 and 12-11 advantages in the final two quarters.

Cory Mallory scored a game-high 18 points for the Rams.

The Bears received 15 points from Kurtis Young and 13 from Dakota Sparks.

Wyandotte makes up a Dec. 11 game at Afton on Friday.
