COMMERCE — Ashley Barton threw a shutout as Commerce routed Chouteau 17-0 in the first game of a District 2A-8 fast pitch double header here Thursday, Sept. 20.

Chouteau came back to claim a 3-2 win in the nightcap.

The Lady Tigers finish the season 16-13 overall and 7-7 in the district.

The split enabled Chouteau to claim the fourth-place playoff berth in 2A-8 at 8-6. The Wildcats are 15-15 overall.

Commerce 17, Chouteau 0

A nine-run second helped the Lady Tigers break the game open.

Commerce sent 13 batters to the plate.

Morgan Connell had a two-run single while Miriam Nino, Dawn Convirs and Marisa Scott added RBI singles.

Ashley Barton drove in a run with a fielder’s choice. CHS also got two runs on an error and Connell stole home.

Chouteau had only four hits off Barton.

Connell had a triple and single while Nino had a double and single.

Ashley Barton and Dawn Convirs contributed two singles each.

Rhyane Hallett doubled and Marisa Scott added a single.

Chouteau 3, Commerce 2

A single with two out in the top of the ninth drove in what turned out to be the winning run for the Lady Wildcats.

Commerce was retired in order in its half of the ninth.

The Lady Tigers went up 1-0 in the bottom of the first, but Chouteau grabbed a 2-1 lead in the second.

Commerce tied the game in the sixth on a walk to Sunny Crawford and a fielder’s choice by Hallett.

Three singles by Barton led the Lady Tiger offensive attack.

Connell had a triple and single and Scott added a base hit.

Chouteau collected nine hits.
