WELCH — Due to a lack of players, Welch has cancelled its Friday, Sept. 14 game with Foyil, according to head coach David Hindman.

“We don’t have enough healthy players,” Hindman said.

“Hunter (Deerinwater) is out with deep calf bruise and he can’t run. That takes away one of our skill players and Eli (Gilman) is out with a concussion. We have several others who are out, too.”

Hindman is hopeful that having two weeks off, the Cats will be back to full strength for their Sept. 28.

Welch was supposed to play Copan — which is co-oping with Wesleyan Christian of Bartlesville — next week, but the game has been cancelled.

The Wildcats host Medford on Sept. 28.

“We are fighting it. We’ve never had this happen before. We will be back and ready to go. They are still excited.”

Welch is 0-2, losing 62-6 to Watts and 47-0 against South Coffeyville.
