CLAREMORE — Miami suffered back-to-back District 4A-6 fast pitch softball losses.

The Lady Wardogs fell to Oologah 7-1 on Monday, Sept. 10, then dropped a 9-2 decision at Claremore Sequoyah Tuesday, Sept. 11.

The losses dropped Miami to 11-8 overall and it is fifth in the district at 4-4.

The Lady Wardogs have seven games remaining, including six in district play.

They host Vinita Thursday, Sept. 13, then entertain Locust Grove on Monday, Sept. 17.

Sequoyah 9, Miami 2

Sequoyah pitcher Ariel Thompson limited Miami to only two hits and two runs as the Lady Eagles improved to 9-1 in district play and 16-3 overall.

They jumped out 3-0 in the first and padded the lead to 5-0 in the fifth.

Sequoyah had another three-run rally in the fifth and got its ninth run in the sixth.

Jessie Ishmael and Hannah Hardcastle had a single each for the Lady Wardogs’ only hits.

Ariel Thompson was 4-for-4 with a homer and double and three RBIs.

Kayleigh Jones also went 4-for 4, picking up a double.

Callie Schultz collected a triple and single while Emily Smith and Hannah Morgan finished with a double and single. Macey McClain had two singles.

Oologah 7, Miami 1

The Lady Wardogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a single by Lauren Willard and an error.

Oologah took the lead for good in the second with a two-run rally.

The Lady Mustangs also had two-run rallies in the fourth and sixth innings.

A single each by Lauren Willard, Jordan Davis and Beca Hopping were Miami’s only hits.

Emma Gill doubled and singled while Kenzie Chacon and Rachel Humburg chipped in with two singles each.
