OAKS — Ten runs in the first inning doomed Bluejacket and the Lady Chieftains suffered a 12-4 fast pitch softball loss to Oaks here Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The Lady Chieftains jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first then wouldn’t score again until the fifth.

Oaks added single runs in the second and fourth frames.

Bluejacket had only three hits, including a home run by Shelby Baker.

Lea Hency had two singles.

Pitcher Haven Kelly pitched to nine batters then was relived by Hency.

“We are simply too inconsistent,” Bluejacket coach Shawn Martin said. “We can be great one day then completely off the next. Tonight we gave up eight unearned runs in the first inning, then settled down and played well, but it was too little, too late.”

Bluejacket travels to Foyil on Thursday, Sept. 6.
