AFTON — Pitcher Taylie Burrow struck out 13 and walked none as Afton squeezed out a 4-3 fast pitch softball win over Foyil here Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Foyil outhit the Lady Eagles 6-4, but Afton did the bulk of its damage in the first inning by scoring three times.

Tomi Betz had the big hit in the inning, delivering a two-run single to right.

Afton also got a run on a wild pitch.

Foyil picked up its first run in the second and the Lady Eagles countered that with a final tally in the third when Clarissa Rice reached on an error, went to second and third on wild pitches then stole home.

Layne Hudson, Taylie Burrow, Sidney Huddleston and Tomi Betz each had a single for the Lady Eagles.

Foyil collected six hits, including a double and single by Caitlyn Ward.

Afton plays Catoosa at 1:30 p.m. and Jay at 3 p.m. in the FAST Festival at Fairland, Thursday, Sept. 6.
