COMMERCE — Torrential rain has forced officials to cancel games for Thursday, Aug. 30 and revise the schedule for the Commerce Lady Tiger Classic softball tournament.

Miami has received 2.41 inches of rain over the past six hours, according to Oklahoma Mesonet.

Plans now are to play the five-team tournament Friday, Aug. 31 and Saturday, Sept. 1.

It now will have a bracketed format instead of round-robin play.

Action starts at 10 a.m. with Commerce facing Afton, followed by Fairland vs. East Newton at 11:15 a.m. and Verdigris facing the Commerce-Afton winner at 12:30 p.m.

Elimination games will be at 1:45 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Friday.

The schedule on Saturday starts at 9:30 a.m., pitting the Fairland-East Newton winner and the Verdigris-Commerce/Afton winner.

Play on the loser’s bracket side has games at 10:45 a.m. and noon with the championship game at 1:15 p.m.
