Fairland and Commerce split their District 2A-8 home-and-home fast pitch softball series.

FHS picked up its first district win Tuesday, Aug. 28 in a 10-0 romp over Commerce.

The Lady Tigers (8-6, 3-4) held off Fairland (6-9, 1-5) in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim a 13-9 win Monday, Aug. 27, at Fairland.

Fairland 10, Commerce 0

Kyndall Davis only struck out two and walked five while blanking the Lady Tigers on two hits.

Fairland got two runs in the first and second innings, one in the fourth and five in the fifth.

Morgan Chaney and Madison Stotts had a double each for the Lady Owls.

Davis, Grace Goins and Makinzi Jones all had a single.

Sunny Crawford and Marisa Scott each had a base hit for Commerce.

Commerce 13, Fairland 9

The Lady Tigers were up 9-0 after three, but Fairland got two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to keep the game going.

CHS picked up three more in the top of the seventh on a passed ball, grounder to first and an error.

The Lady Owls made things interesting in the bottom half of the seventh by scoring six times.

Davis had the key hit, a two-out grand slam.

Commerce pitcher Giselle Gutierrez got a groundout to end the game, leaving two runners at first and second.

Rhyane Hallett delivered a two-run homer in the second inning and a single for the Lady Tigers, who also got two singles from Miriam Nino.

Morgan Connell and River Friel each had a double and Sidney Hailey, Sunny Crawford, Cali Wells and Gutierrez added singles.

In addition to the slam by Davis, Fairland also got two singles from Chloe Brown and a base hit from Scout Mayfield.
