WYANDOTTE — The Fairland Middle School softball team slipped by Wyandotte for a 6-5 victory in the finals of the Lucky 7 middle school softball tournament Saturday, Aug. 25.

The title was the second straight for the Lady Owls, who had defeated Quapaw 8-1 in last year’s championship game.

Fairland needed the “if” game to claim the title after dropping a 3-0 decision to Wyandotte in the first championship game.

The Lady Owls blanked Colcord 10-0 in the first round then held on for a 3-2 win over Afton in the semifinals.

Fairland beat Wyandotte 4-1 in the winners’ bracket final.

The Lady Bears topped Welch 4-0 in the losers bracket final.

Wyandotte opened with a 10-0 win over Ketchum but lost to Quapaw in the quarterfinals.

Members of the Fairland team include Averi Anderson, Jaylee Campbell, Kylie Collins, Montana Elmer, Aubrey Kinsey, MaKenna Lawson, Olivia Matthews, Hope Oakley, Ella Oswald, Kinley Powell, Gracin Riggs, Erica Schertz, Keena Webb and Kelsey Wilson.
