QUAPAW — Quapaw split games in a fast-pitch softball tri here Tuesday, Aug. 14.

The Lady Wildcats rolled to a 14-4 victory over Colcord, but suffered a 12-7 loss to Welch in a game that saw the Lady Wildcats score five runs in the top of the eighth inning.

Quapaw 14, Colcord 4

Quapaw (6-4) spotted Colcord four runs in the top of the second inning, but exploded for six in its half of the second.

They got their first three runs with no outs.

Gracie Crawford had an RBI double, then two runs scored on an error.

Jenni Jennings had a two-run double to make it 5-4, then Jenna Kerley delivered an RBI double.

Quapaw got another two runs in the third then scored three each in the fifth and sixth.

Jennings had two doubles and a single with 5 RBIs for Quapaw.

The hosts also got a double and two singles from Mallory Blackfox.

Crawford chipped in with a double and single.

Mya Nichols and Karissa Anderson collected two singles each.

Kerley doubled and Shea Ottesen, Kendyl Stand and Rebekah Morgan each had a base hit.

Map Phan, Laney Davis, Abby Simmons and Payton Potter all had singles for the Lady Hornets.

Welch 12, Quapaw 7

Quapaw tied the game with seven runs in the bottom of the seventh frame.

Kerley had a two-run double and Jennings drove in two runs with a single.

Nichols and Ottesen each had an RBI single and Crawford tied the game with a double.

A grand slam by Brennae Perkins keyed the Welch rally in the eighth.

Hailey Haskell also drove in a run with a grounder.

Winning pitcher Olivia Pitcher set Quapaw down in order in the bottom of the eighth.

Perkins collected three singles, Haskell added two doubles and Pitcher and Brannon contributed a double and single.

Rupert, Maddie Schaper and Jessie Pitcher all had singles.

Quapaw’s offense included a triple and single from Nichols, two doubles from Kerley and a double and single from Crawford.

Otteson, Jennings and Madelynn Zinn all had singles.
