ENID — Wyandotte freshman Braxton Douthit joined Northern Oklahoma-Enid teammate Clayton Peterson on the all-NJCAA Division II World Series all-tournament team.
LSU Eunice topped Parkland (Illinois) College 5-3 in the championship game thanks to a two-run walk-off homer by Slate Fuller.
Douthit struck out 10 and walked none over seven innings as the Jets opened the tournament with a 12-3 win over Sinclair (Ohio) Community College.
He was 11-1 on the season with 81 strikeouts and 22 walks for NOC-Enid.
NOC dropped a 10-3 decision to Eunice in the second round then squeezed out a 10-6 win against Sinclair in the consolation semifinals.
Eunice eliminated the Jets with a 10-1 romp in the quarterfinals.
Peterson is a freshman outfielder.
Sophomore outfielder Koi Westbrook was named the most valuable player and the defensive player of the tournament while helping LSU-Eunice to the national championship.
The Bengals’ Zac Hester also was the most valuable pitcher.
Eunice also had outfielder Jacob Richard and infielder Mason Templet named to the all-tournament team.
Infielder Chili Moseley of Kirkwood (Iowa) Community College, Logan Michaels of Madison (Wisconsin) College, Brendan Joyce and Trystin Raikes of Parkland, Michael Herrera and Ryan Phillips of Scottsdale (Arizona) Community College and Eddie Pursinger of Sinclair (Ohio) Community College also were named to the all-tournament team.
Jeff Willis of LSU-Eunice was named coach of the tournament.
Chipola (Florida) College defeated Walters State (Tennessee) Community College 10-7 in the Division I finals at Grand Junction, Colorado.
