MIAMI — With two of the top four individuals, Poteau claimed the team title at a Class 4A boys’ golf regional Monday, April 30 at Peoria Ridge Golf Course.

The Pirates had rounds of 314 and 331 for a 645 total.

The 314 on the first 18 holes was the day’s low round.

Ryan Ward and Justun Coyle were Poteau’s individual leaders with a 152 and 154, respectively.

The Pirates’ other scores were 164 by Bryson Terry and 175 by Luke Wheat.

No. 5 bag Jameson Shackleford shot 192.

Tulsa Cascia Hall and Cleveland were the other two teams from the regional to qualify for the state tournament.

Cascia Hall had a 654 and Cleveland logged a 677.

Rounding out the team scores were Oologah, 690; Grove, 724; Miami, 735; Stilwell, 813, and Mannford, 876.

Matt Braley of Cascia Hall had the individual low score at 146 and Jefferson Cook of Cleveland was a stroke behind.

Individuals not on a qualifying team were Soulai Vang, Oologah, 151, and Jacoby Riggs and Zach Decker of Grove with scores of 166 and 168, respectively.

Gavin Payton was Miami’s leader at 84-93-177.

Joe Lillard logged a 92-90-182, followed by Lane Giles, 94-90-184; Justin Giles, 101-104-205 and Kaleb Jinks, 108-101-209.

The Wardogs had an opening round 361 then finished with a 374.
