FAIRLAND — Riley Powell pitched a two-hit shutout as Fairland notched a 6-0 victory over Quapaw in the finals of the Fairland Tournament here Saturday, April 14.
Powell (2-4) struck out eight and walked two in a game that saw the first-pitch temerature 39 degrees and a brisk wind throughout the day.
Bluejacket rolled to a 10-4 win against Copan to finish fifth.
Lane Tudor drove in the Owls’ first two runs in the fourth inning with a single.
Fairland picked up another four runs in the fifth inning, three coming on passed balls.
Jamal Morris also picked up an RBI by hitting into a fielder’s choice.
Gavin Long doubled and Tudor and Trey Martin each had a single.
Fairland benefitted from nine walks and an error.
Jonas Gregory had a double and Jordan Carolus singled for the Cats.
In other games, Afton defeated Commerce, 7-2 for third place and Bluejacket topped Copan 10-4.

The Eagles grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second only to have CHS cut that in half in the top of the third.
Afton pulled away with a three-run third, then tacked on two more runs in the fourth.
The Tigers scored their only other run in their half of the fourth.
Tate Maupin had three singles and Kyle Corley added two for Afton.
Brett Hollon, Brett Fuser, Jacob Barton and Teegan Maupin all added singles.
The Tigers had only four hits, including a double and single by Caleb Pittman.
Caden Pickard and Hunter Burkybile added a single each.
