FAIRLAND — The host Owls swept both of their games in the first round of the Fairland High School Baseball Tournament Thursday, April 12.
FHS rolled 11-1 over Colcord then turned back Afton 6-3.
In other games Thursday it was Afton 9, Bluejacket 1, and Bluejacket 9, Colcord 6.
The schedule for Friday included Copan vs. Quapaw, noon; Copan vs. Commerce, 2:30 p.m., and Commerce vs. Quapaw, 5 p.m.
Weather permitting the tournament wraps up Saturday, April 14.
The championship game will be played at 10 a.m., the fifth-place game at 12:15 p.m. and the third-place game at 2:30 p.m.
Fairland 11, Colcord 1
A three-run homer by Long keyed a seven-run third inning rally for Fairland.
The Owls grabbed a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second, but Colcord got one of the runs back in the third.
Long also had a single.
Rice delivered two singles for the winners.
Smalley tripled, Powell and Tudor had a double each and Isaac Matthews kicked in with a single.
Dylan Davis, Morgan Shawver, Dustin Forman, Aiden Parker and Tyler Parker had a single each for Colcord.
Bluejacket 9, Colcord 6
The Chieftains got all nine of their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
They sent 12 men to the plate. The key hits were a two-run triple by Ryder Blackfox and a two-run single by Justin Pape. Justin Herlan singled home a run.
Bluejacket also picked up three runs via errors.
Colcord had scored twice in the second and added four runs in its half of the fifth.
Blackfox tripled and Pape, Herlan, Jonathan Estes, Charles Spiegel, Lakelan Bro and Haven Kelly added singles for the Chieftains.
Dustin Forman and Wyatt Doty each had a double while Spencer Earp, Morgan Shawver, Aiden Parker, John Nguyen and Tyler Duncan chipped in with a single each.
Afton 9, Bluejacket 1
The Eagles got runs in the first and fifth to nail down their tournament opener.
Bluejacket scored its only run in the first, but the Eagles countered with four in the bottom of the inning.
Afton scored its final five in the bottom of the fifth.
Brett Hollon, Kyle Corley, Jesse Walkingstick, Jacob Barton, Cole Mikesell and Teegan Maupin all had singles for the Eagles.
Bluejacket had five hits in the game against Tate Maupin and Walkingstick.
Fairland 6, Afton 3
The Owls were outhit 11-4, but still managed to get the win.
Fairland saw a 2-0 lead vanish when the Eagles tied the score in the third.
The Owls scored four times in the top of the fourth frame, then Afton got its final tally in the bottom of the fourth.
Rice had a triple and single and Thatcher Smalley and Lane Tudor added singles for Fairland.
Corley was 3-for-3, Walkingstick had a double and single and Tate Maupin and Teegan Maupin each had two singles.
Brett Fuser doubled and Zach Henry chipped in with a base hit.
