WELCH — Welch posted a pair of slow pitch softball wins over Afton here Monday, April 9.
The Lady Wildcats picked up a 6-2 win in the opener then rolled 10-0 in the nightcap behind Madisen Horton’s four-hitter.

The Class A No. 11 Lady Wildcats collected 15 hits in the game.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, Welch took the lead for good in the bottom of the first with a two-run rally.
It added two more in the third and tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth.
Afton got its only other run in the fourth.
The Welch attack included three singles by Madison Gilman, a home run and double by Olivia Pitcher, a homer and single by Alex Arnold; two single each from Ashlee Morgan and Brennae Perkins, and a single each from Olivia Chenoweth, Horton, Emily Piercefield and Taylor Foust.
Sam Saylor and Laney Hudson each had two singles for Afton.
Carlee Shinn, Bailey Fields, Dylan Mishmash, Clarissa Rice and Tomi Betz each had a single.

The Lady Wildcats got runs in each of their four at-bats in a game called after four by the run rule.
Welch led 1-0 after the first and 2-0 through two innings.
It took charge with four-run rallies in the third and fourth.
A two-out single by Maddi Schaper drove in Arnold with the 10th and game-ending run.
Perkins went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for WHS.
Morgan and Horton each collected two singles and Pitcher and Gilman added doubles.
Chenoweth, Schaper, Piercefield and Halle Rupert all had singles.
Shinn, Burrow, Hudson and Rice each had a single for the Lady Eagles.
Welch (16-6) travels to Salina on Thursday then hosts Wesleyan Christian on Monday, April 16.
Afton (2-7) wraps up its regular season Monday, April 16 at Locust Grove.
