COMMERCE — Five of the six games over the first two days at the Mickey Mantle Classic have been postponed due to a wet field.

Two of Monday’s games and all three games scheduled for Tuesday have been pushed back.

The only game that has been completed was a Monday game that saw Commerce roll to a 15-0 win over Sarcoxie, Missouri.

A re-revised schedule has all three of the Tuesday, April 3, games played in Joplin on Wednesday, April 4.

Afton and Sarcoxie, Missouri, play at 1 p.m. at Wendell Redden Field in the Joplin Sports complex, 3301 West First Street, while Fairland meets Wyandotte at 11 a.m. and Haskell vs. Commerce at 1 p.m. Both of those games will be at Joe Becker Stadium.

A storm that included hail rolled through Commerce Tuesday morning.

“It was like the Wizard of Oz over here when that all hit,” Waybright said. “It hailed here and the wind was so strong that it blew stuff out into center field.

“It was crazy there for a little while.”

The first game of the tournament, Fairland vs. the Neosho (Missouri) JV was rescheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Joe Becker and Game 3, Quapaw vs. Wyandotte, now will be played at 8 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Mickey Mantle Field.

There were two other changes to the schedule, all on Thursday, April 5.

* Sarcoxie faces Haskell at 4:30 p.m. at Mantle Field. They were to have played at 4 p.m. Thursday at Joe Becker.

* Neosho JV meets Wyandotte at 4 p.m. at Joe Becker. That is a change from 6 p.m. Friday at Mantle Field.

The tournament continues through Saturday, April 7.
