OKLAHOMA CITY — A pair of three-run innings helped Class A No. 20 Sterling notch a 9-3 win over Quapaw here Saturday, March 17.

The game was played at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, home of the Triple-A Oklahoma City Redhawks.

Sterling jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but the Wildcats cut the margin in half in the third on a walk to Kale Thomasson and a double to left by Jonas Gregory.

Sterling countered with a three-run rally in its half of the third, then the Tigers pushed across another three in the fourth.

Matt Lovell had a two-run single for Quapaw in the sixth, but the Tigers scored their ninth run in the bottom of the sixth.

Gregory collected a double and single for Quapaw,

Thomasson, Lovell, Chris Durbin and Dakota Case all had singles.

Sterling collected six hits and took advantage of seven errors by the Wildcats.

Gage Phelps had two triples and a double for the Tigers.

Gregory and Nick Hemphill each threw three innings for Quapaw, which suffered its third straight loss to fall to 3-4.
