MIAMI — Erupting for 34 runs on 20 hits, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College swept a baseball non-conference double-header 18-7 and 16-7 over Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods Wednesday, March 14, on Homa Thomas Field.
While winning their fourth game in a row, the Golden Norsemen are 10-7 on the season.
NEO (5-1) hosted No. 7 ranked Connors State College (5-1 and 20-2) Thursday in a nine-inning Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference game with first place on the line.
The two teams continue the series in a 1 p.m. double-header Saturday at Warner.
Against the Maple Woods Monarchs (1-15) in the first game, both teams scored two runs in the first inning.
Trailing 3-2, the Norsemen scored four times in the top of the fourth for a brief 6-3 cushion.
Maple Woods retaliated with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to create a 6-6 deadlock.
NEO's offense exploded for eight runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to end the game on the eight-run rule.
Golden Norse first baseman Matthew Patton delivered a home run (3), double and single with six RBI to lead the NEO offense.
Carter Nelson contributed a triple and two doubles with three RBI while Bryson Lierle added a double and single with two RBI.
Zach Pinkston (2-0) pitched 3.2 innings the victory with 2.1 innings of relief by Christopher Despars.

The Golden Norse offense buried the Monarchs in the second game right off the bat with 11 runs in the top of the first inning.
Maple Woods answered with two runs in the bottom of the first and four in the fourth inning to trail by an 11-6 margin.
NEO tallied a run in the top of the fourth and four in the fifth inning.
Along with receiving 10 walks, the Golden Norse received two RBI singles from Troy Gagan. Lierle and Alec Hayward contributed RBI doubles.
Corey Lummis (1-0) earned the complete game win for NEO.
He struck out six and walked three while allowing six runs on seven hits in five innings of work.
