EL RENO — Afton coasted to the team title and crowned three individual state champions during the Oklahoma Football Coaches Association state power lifting meet.

The Eagles finished with 159 points, tops in Class A and overall.

Kiefer was a distant second with 84 points and Panama finished with 83.

Fairland was fourth with 78 points.

That marked the Eagles’ third straight state title.

Individual winners for the Eagles were Kaden Gibson at 123 pounds, Briar Julian at 198 and Seth Miller at 275.

That’s the first time Afton has won three straight team titles and has crowned three individual winners.

The title comes on the heels of the Eagles capturing the Class A state football championship in December.

Gibson finished with 855 pounds total, turning in performances of 305 pounds in the squat, 185 in the bench press and 465 in the deadlift.

Julian totaled 1,365 pounds — 500 squat, 315 bench press and 550 deadlift.

Miller’s best efforts of 520, 340 and 570 totaled 1,530 pounds.

Brenden Foust of Fairland won the 181-pound class.

His total of 1,315 pounds included a 515-pound squat, 325-pound bench press and 475-pound deadlift.

Fairland’s Charles Reed had the outstanding bench press among lightweight lifters with a 300-pound effort.

Blake Gonzales of Colcord was the overall outstanding lightweight lifter.

His top squat of 480 and deadlift of 465 gave him a 1,210 total.

Braden Jones of Hobart was the outstanding heavyweight lifter with a 1,700-pound total.
