WELCH — An 18-run fourth inning helped Fairland romp to a 19-1 baseball win over Welch here Thursday, March 8.
The Owls picked up their first run in the top of the third and then sent 24 batters to the plate during the fourth-inning explosion.
The runs came on a two-run single by Cody Rice, RBI doubles by Ryan Powell and Trey Martin, run-scoring singles by Lane Gaines and Tudor, four errors, three wild pitches, two walks, a balk and a passed ball.
Welch got its only run in the bottom of the fourth.
Josh Baker had the Wildcats’ only hit.
Powell threw all four innings for the Owls, striking out eight and walking four.
Welch used five pitchers in the game: Gunner Johnson, Seth Hayward, Dalton Duede, Baker and Daniel Windle.
