OWASSO — A goal on the ninth shooter lifted the Miami girls’ soccer team to a 2-1 overtime win against Rejoice Christian School here Tuesday, March 6.
“It was a great game,” Miami coach Kenton Adams said. “We should have scored about four goals in regulation, but we had trouble finishing.
The teams battled to a 1-1 draw in regulation.
Maryshoko Marugu, Beca Hopping, Qimeng Li and Madison Schnakenberg had shootout goals for the Lady Wardogs.
Hopping had Miami’s only goal in the first five-player shootout rotation.
Then in the second five, Li, Marugu and finally Schnakenberg hit the back of the net in the shootout.
Rejoice’s ninth shooter put a shot that went wide left.
"Alexa (goalie Alexa Payne) made some great saves,” Adams said.
The Lady Wardogs are at Hilldale for a match Friday, March 9.
