ORLANDO — The Bluejacket girls and boys suffered losses in Class B Area II regional play here Thursday, Feb. 15.

Timberlake jumped out to a 12-point first-quarter lead and coasted to a 52-40 win over Bluejacket in the girls’ winners’ bracket game.

The Chieftains were eliminated with a 63-62 loss to host Mulhall-Orlando in a Consolation Bracket B game here Thursday afternoon.

Bluejacket’s girls face Medford at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16 in Consolation Bracket B action at Coyle.

Medford remained alive with a 32-29 win over Carney at Coyle.

Girls: Timberlake 52, Bluejacket 40

The No. 17 Lady Tigers turned a 16-4 lead in the opening frame into a 26-12 halftime advantage.

Bluejacket (10-13) made things interesting with a 16-10 edge in the third quarter, but Timberlake (18-7) held on for the win with a 16-12 edge over the final eight minutes.

Laura Collins had 13 points for the Lady Chieftains.

Others with points for Bluejacket were Shelbie Baker with eight, Dee Dee Satterwhite and Lydia Pipins with six each, Lea Hency with five and Abigail Brewster, two.

Jaden Severin scored 20 and Kimberly Vo added 12 for Timberlake.

Boys: Mulhall-Orlando 63, Bluejacket 62

Mulhall-Orlando rallied from an 11-point deficit in the final four minutes.

The Panthers’ rally was fueled by 14 trips to the free throw line.

The loss eliminated the Bluejacket boys.

They finish the season with a 13-9 record.
