SEMINOLE — Maintaining a two-game lead in the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference, the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Lady Norse enter the last five games of the regular season.

After earning a 79-52 victory Thursday, Feb. 8 at Seminole State College, the Lady Norse began a three-game home stand Monday, Feb. 12 against Eastern State College (1-9 and 6-18) with a perfect 11-0 conference mark and a 19-4 season record.

The Lady Norse constructed a 14-9 lead through the first 10 minutes of the opening half at Seminole.

Pounding the ball inside the paint, the Lady Norse twin towers of Mariam Gnanou and Bethy Mununga combined for four points each while Mikayla Shulanberger, Megan Jackson and Eneritz Larranaga each added layups to fuel NEO's outburst.

NEO continued to apply defensive pressure to supplement its offense as the Lady Norse carried a 37-24 cushion to the locker room at halftime.

Outscoring the Belles by a 23-13 margin during the third quarter, the Lady Norse carried a 60-37 advantage into the final 10 minutes.

The Lady Norse outscored the Belles 19-15 in the fourth quarter to complete the series sweep over Seminole.

Four Lady Norse scored in double figures while three achieved double-double status.

Jackson led the Lady Norse with 23 points while Mununga scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Gnanou contributed 16 points and 16 rebounds while Larranaga added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Shulanberger tallied six points and Amare Weary two.

While Summer Jones paced the Belles with 14 points, Mykayla Dumas scored nine points with a game-leading 19 rebounds.


The Lady Norse host Western State College at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
