WYANDOTTE — Tarrah Stephens scored 37 points in leading the Wyandotte girls to a 57-39 win over Ketchum here Saturday, Jan. 3.
She had nine field goals, including two 3-point goals, and was 17 of 28 at the free throw line.
The Lady Bears also ground out a 44-39 win against Colcord Monday, Jan. 5.
Wyandotte 44, Colcord 39
After falling behind 8-7 after one quarter, the Lady Bears jumped out to a 24-19 halftime lead.
Colcord went up 33-28 heading into the fourth, when WHS held a 16-6 advantage down the stretch to pull out the win.
Stephens scored 19 and Aranda Nair added 10 for the Lady Bears.
They also got eight from Makinze Powell, three from Jillian Swonger and two from Haley Hart.
Skyla Drywater was Colcord’s offensive leader with 13 points.
Wyandotte 57, Ketchum 39
The Lady Bears were up 15-2 after one quarter and coasted into the half with a 24-15 advantage.
Ketchum held a 15-13 edge in the third frame then outscored WHS 21-20 over the last eight minutes.
Haley Hart and Aranda Nair scored five points each for the Lady Bears, followed by Kylee Severs with four and Kallie Morisset, Jillian Swonger and Makinze Powell scored two each.
Destanee McGimpey scored 22 and Kinzee Farrar 16 for the Lady Warriors.
Boys: Wyandotte 69, Colcord 52
The 2A No. 18 Bears scored 20 points in the opening frame and never looked back.
They led 20-9 after the first quarter then carried a 35-19 advantage into intermission.
Each team scored 19 in the third and WHS held a 15-14 edge in the fourth period.
Four players scored in double figures for the Bears (17-3).
Ryan Cooper had a team high 20 points, followed by Jordon Burney, 15; Trey Jones, 14, and Jacob Burney, 13.
Brendon Cooper scored five for Wyandotte while Justin Campbell contributed two points.
Wyandotte nailed eight treys in the game, including four by Ryan Cooper and three by Jordon Burney.
Farris scored 20 and Kendrick chipped in with 14 for Colcord.
Weather permitting, Wyandotte traveled to Commerce Tuesday, Feb. 6, and is at Chouteau Friday, Feb. 9.
