COLCORD — The Welch girls continue to pick up momentum for the Class A playoffs with a 46-30 win over Colcord here Frday, Feb. 2.

The win was the 12th win in the last 13 games for the Lady Wildcats (18-2).

A 16-4 burst in the fourth quarter helped WHS take charge in a close game.

Colcord (7-9) was up 15-13 after the first quarter, but WHS turned things around in the second thanks to an 11-4 margin.

It carried a 30-26 lead into the final stanza.

Maddie Schaper had 11 points to head up the Lady Wildcat scoring.

Others with points for Welch were

Olivia Chenoweth, nine; Hailey Haskell and Aspen Wood, eight each; Jaeli Jorgenson, six, and Jayci Atwood and Olivia Pitcher, two each.

Skyla Drywater tallied 12 points to lead Colcord’s scoring.

Boys: Colcord 47, Welch 20

The Hornets set the tone early with a 12-6 advantage.

They rolled into the half with a 28-9 margin then outscored Welch 12-5 in the third.

Braxton Turner was the top scorer for Welch with 10 points.

Colton Armstrong added four and Justin Haskell, Dalton Duede and Gunner Johnson each had two points.

KJ Ferris and Spence Earp tallied 14 each for Colcord.
