BLUEJACKET — Colcord’s boys escaped with a 45-44 victory over Bluejacket here Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Bluejacket earned a 43-35 victory in the girls’ game.

The Chieftains (11-7) had carried a 25-20 lead into the half, but Colcord held a 13-8 edge in the third quarter then outscored the hosts 12-11 over the final eight minutes.

The Hornets missed a free throw with 11 seconds left. Bluejacket rebounded and set up a play, but Coy McGlasson missed a shot at the buzzer.

Matthew Farris scored 15 and Legend Doyle had 10 for the Hornets (8-7).

Justin Pape had a game high 17 for Bluejacket.

Cooper Decker scored nine and Ryder Blackfox, McGlasson and Gabe Satterwhite had six each for the Chieftains.

Girls: Bluejacket 43, Colcord 35

The Lady Chieftains held a 10-4 advantage in the third quarter to erase a one-point halftime deficit.

Bluejacket created the final margin with a 14-11 edge in the fourth.

The Lady Chieftains were up 9-8 after one, but Colcord (7-8) held a 12-10 advantage in the second frame.

Shelbie Baker scored 15 and Lydia Pipins contributed 11 for the Bluejacket cause.

The Lady Chieftains (8-10) also picked up six points from DeeDee Satterwhite, five from Laura Collins, four from Lea Hency and three from Abby Brewster.
