WYANDOTTE — Wyandotte marked homecoming by sweeping basketball games from Colcord here Friday, Jan. 26.

The Bears rolled 79-51 then the Wyandotte girls grabbed a 43-33 win.

Five players scored in double figures for the 2A No. 16 WHS boys (14-2), topped by Jordon Burney’s 19 points.

Ryan Cooper had 18, Jacob Burney 15, Brendan Cooper 11 and Trey Jones 10.

Helawa Williams, Ethan Bradley and Justin Campbell netted two points each.

The Bears led by one after one quarter but used a 22-8 run in the second period to open up a 37-22 halftime advantage.

The teams combined for 45 points in the third, leaving Wyandotte with a 60-44 lead.

The Bears clinched with win by outscoring Colcord (7-7) 19-7 over the final eight minutes.

Legend Doyle’s 23 points led the way for the Hornets. Matthew Farris had 13 and Spencer Earp contributed 10.

Girls: Wyandotte 43, Colcord 33

A 14-5 advantage in the first quarter set things in motion for the Lady Bears (12-4).

They coasted into the break with a 20-14 advantage then outscored Colcord 12-8 in the third.

Each team got 11 points in the fourth quarter.

Tarrah Stephens had a game-high 25 points for Wyandotte.

Makinze Powell added 11 followed by Aranda Nair with five and Jillian Swonger, two.

Shyla Drywater scored 10 points for Colcord (7-7).
