AFTON — A 10-3 edge in overtime lifted the Afton boys to a 54-47 victory over Chelsea here Tuesday, Jan. 23.

Chelsea used a 16-12 advantage in the fourth quarter to force the game into overtime.

Brett Hollon scored seven of his team-high 14 points in overtime.

Afton saw an 11-10 first-quarter lead turn into a 22-15 deficit by halftime.

The Eagles held a 17-6 edge in the third quarter.

Joining Hollon in double figures for Afton were Cole Mikesell and Brett Fuser, who scored 12 points each.

Brier Julian chipped in with nine points and Zach Henry added seven.

Will Haley and Austin Veysey were Chouteau’s scoring leaders with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Girls: Chelsea 51, Afton 37

A 32-21 advantage in the middle two quarters helped Chelsea get by the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Dragons led by two heading into the second, when they outscored Afton 17-12.

Chelsea followed that up with a 15-9 advantage in the third.

Carlee Shinn and Skyler Hicks were Afton’s scoring leaders with 13 each.

Layne Hudson and Ashley Turley had six each and Clarissa Rice tallied two.

Taylor Ellick had 16 and Allison Dunlap netted 13 for Chelsea.


Afton travels to Commerce, Friday, Jan. 26; hosts Afton Saturday, Jan. 27 and Fairland, Monday, Jan. 29 then travels to Quapaw on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
