WYANDOTTE — Wyandotte and Chouteau split non-conference decisions here Tuesday, Jan. 23.
The visitors notched a 55-33 victory in the girls’ game and the 2A No. 16 Bears rolled to a 73-41 win in the nightcap.
In the boys’ game, WHS erupted for 30 points in the first quarter to set the tone.
It coasted to a 42-23 lead at the break.
Wyandotte (13-2) held a 22-11 edge in the third then outscored the Wildcats 9-5 in the fourth.
WHS had three players score in double figures. Jacob Burney had 23, followed by Ryan Cooper with 18 and Trey Jones with 10.
Brendan Cooper and Jordon Burney scored nine each followed by Justin Campbell with three and Ethan Bradley one.
Kyndall Keys and Brandon Miller scored 13 and 10, respectively, for Chouteau (5-12).
Girls: Chouteau 55, Wyandotte 33
A 29-13 advantage in the second half helped 2A No. 16 Chouteau pick up the win in the girls’ game.
The Lady Wildcats led 18-7 after one, but Wyandotte cut the gap to 26-20 at the break.
Chouteau (13-4) pushed its lead to eight heading into the final stanza, and then outscored the Lady Bears 18-4.
Tarrah Stephens headed up the Wyandotte (11-4) scoring with 19 points.
Aranda Nair finished with six, followed by Haley Hart, four; Makinzi Powell, two, and Kylee Severs and Jillian Swonger one each.
Chouteau’s scoring included 25 from Sydni Keys and 11 from Maddie Stutzman.
Wyandotte hosts Colcord Friday, Jan. 26 then travels to Fairland Jan. 30.
