COLCORD – Colcord picked up a pair of wins against Commerce here Friday, Jan. 9.

The Lady Hornets picked up a 53-14 victory while the Colcord boys were a 37-31 winner.

Colcord stretched a 9-5 first-quarter lead into a 22-7 halftime advantage.

The Lady Hornets broke the game open with a 10-0 run in the third.

The 14 points were the second-lowest output by the 0-9 Lady Tigers on the season.

They scored only 12 against Bluejacket on Jan. 6.

Dawn Convirs had a team-high five points while Kaci Black, River Friel, Sunny Crawford and Morgan Connell added two each.

Laci Herrera contributed a free throw.

J. Martin scored 12 for Colcord.

Boys: Colcord 37, Commerce 31

Commerce held 9-6 and 8-6 advantages in the first two quarters, but the Hornets turned things around with a 13-4 run in the third period.

Colcord (4-4) nailed down the win by outscoring the Tigers 12-10 over the final eight minutes.

Commerce (5-4) received 13 points from Danny Salinas.

Hunter Burkybile finished with seven,Bryar Chandler, Hayden Moss and Ryan Dunbar, three each, and Chris Ibarra, two.

Matthew Farris’ 17 points topped the scoring for Colcord.

Commerce travels to Bluejacket Tuesday, Jan. 15, then begins play in the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M High School Basketball Tournament on Thursday, Jan. 18.

The CHS boys play Watts at 6 p.m. in the Glen Wolfe Student Activity Center in the Boys Norse bracket.

The Lady Tigers tackle Joplin Thomas Jefferson at noon in the NEO Field House in Girls Norse play.
