WYANDOTTE — Scoring what may be a school record point total, the Wyandotte boys coasted to a 102-37 victory over Afton here Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Justin Campbell scored with 1:20 remaining to help the Bears break the century mark.

Wyandotte also posted a 59-38 win in the girls’ game.

The Class 2A No. 18 Bears (9-1) scored 31 points in the first quarter and 33 in the third.

They were up 31-12 after one quarter, 51-17 at the break and 84-32 going into the fourth.

Six players scored in double figures for Wyandotte, topped by Ryan Cooper with 26.

Jordan Burney added 18, followed by Trey Jones with 15, Justin Campbell, 12; Cody Teal, 11, and Jacob Burney, 10.

The Bears also got six points from Brandon Cooper and two each from Helawa Williams and Ethan Bradley.

This marked the third time Wyandotte had scored 90-plus points in a game.

It scored 91 in the season opener against Welch and got 96 against Quapaw.

Brett Hollon finished with a team-high 11 for the Eagles.

Others with points for Afton (0-4) were Cole Mikesell, eight; Brett Fuser, seven; Briar Julian, six; Gavin Herman, three, and Jesse Sayler, two.

Girls: Wyandotte 59, Afton 38

The Lady Bears (8-2) turned a 16-14 first-quarter deficit into a 33-25 halftime advantage.

Wyandotte held a 10-8 edge in the third then iced the win by outscoring the Lady Eagles 16-5 over the final eight minutes.

WHS picked up 22 points from Tarrah Stephens while Aranda Nair and Makinze Powell had 10 each.

Haley Hart added eight, with Kylee Severs netting five and Jillian Swonger and Kallie Morisset scoring two each.

Carlee Shinn and Skyler Hicks scored 15 and 13, respectively, for Afton (2-5).

Layne Hudson chipped in with five followed by Ashley Kunkel with three and Ashley Turley with two.
