FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Top-ranked Clackamas (Oregon) Community College turned back No. 2 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M 27-14 in the championship match of the NWCA Multi-Divisional National Duals here Friday, Jan. 5.

The setback was the first in dual competition for the Golden Norse this season and snapped a 15-match win streak dating back to last season.

Clackamas topped NEO 23-9 in last year’s final here.

Wyatt Jordan, the defending national champion at 165 pounds, suffered his first loss of the season, dropping a 10-4 decision to Dayton Racer of Clackamas.

Three of NEO’s losses against Clackamas were by a total of five points.

The Golden Norsemen reached the finals with a 54-0 rout of Colby (Kansas) Community College in the first round, a 42-3 decision over Southwestern Oregon in the quarterfinals and a 36-9 victory over Western Wyoming in the semifinals.

Two NEO wrestlers went unbeaten in the competition: Cody Karstetter at 141-pounds and heavyweight Brian Andrews.

Boo Dryden, Kendon Lee, Zeke Rubio, Jordan, Devin Crawl and Alex Kauffman were 3-1 and Cooper Secker and Gus Boyd were 2-2.

Clackamas was an easy winner in its three matches heading into the finals: 51-6 over Triton (Illinois) College, 50-2 over Northwest Kansas Tech and 33-9 against Iowa Western.

Western Wyoming decisioned Iowa Western 23-19 to finish third.
