MIAMI — The Will Rogers Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls posted wins over Jay here.

The seventh grade girls squeezed out a 24-23 victory, then the eighth graders rolled 41-24.

An 11-6 advantage in the third quarter sent the seventh grade Lady Wardogs on their way.

They had led 7-4 after one, but fell behind 10-9 at the half.

WRMS carried a 20-16 lead into the final stanza.

Jericho Burrow’s 10 points topped the scoring for Miami.

Others with points were Brooke Bashore, six; Charley Mayfield, four, and Becca Bolton and Greenly O’Neal, two each.

Libby Gibe scored 12 for the Lady Bulldogs.

In the eighth grade game, Will Rogers broke the game open with an 18-2 burst in the third quarter.

Each team had six points in the first quarter then Jay went into the half with a 17-15 advantage.

The Lady Wardogs nailed down the win with an 8-5 edge in the fourth quarter.

Foreman had six points for Jay.

Scout Mayfield was WRMS’ leading scorer with 12 points. She got 10 of that in the third quarter.

Others with points for the Lady Wardogs were Hannah Hardcastle, nine; Makynzi Jones, eight; Kylie Jinks, six; Darci Edmondson, four, and Kiah Payton, two.
