LAMONT — A battered Bluejacket football team still was able to roll to a 68-16 victory over Deer Creek-Lamont here Thursday night.

The third-ranked Chieftains, playing without quarterback Coy McGlasson and several other key performers, still managed to end the game at the half.

The win was the seventh straight for the Chieftains, who are now 5-0 in District C-3 play.

They’ve won the six on-field games by an average of 39.5 points and it’s the third time they’ve scored 48 or more points.

Bluejacket also picked up a 15-0 forfeit win against Copan.

Deer Creek-Lamont is winless in seven games and is 0-5 in C-3.

Reuben Torres, who is filling in at quarterback, had 245 yards and five touchdowns on 19 carries.

He also was 5 of 8 passing for 240 yards and four TDs.

James Walters caught all four TD passes, netting 200 yards.

Cooper Decker also had a 10-yard touchdown run on his only carry.

Keegan Francis ran the ball twice, netting 30 yards and Walters had three carries for 40 yards.

Bluejacket hosts No. 4 Regent Prep Thursday, Oct. 19.
