FOYIL — A 20-point first quarter got the ball rolling for Foyil during a 28-14 victory over Quapaw here Friday, Oct. 6.

The Panthers’ first two scores came on a 1-yard run by Chance Barbee and a fumble recovery by Caden Miller.

A 13-yard run by Barbee made it 20-0.

Quapaw got to within two touchdowns with a 21-yard TD reception by Jordan Carolus on a pass from Jonas Gregory with 45 seconds left before the half.

Stone Platt broke the Wildcats’ back with a 39-yard run and his conversion in the third quarter

Quapaw created the final margin with 4:19 remaining when Kale Thomasson powered in from the 1 and Austin Crouch got the conversion pass from Gregory.

“We played a little better,” Quapaw head coach Chris Cawyer said. “We get drives going then make silly mistakes. We had a clip on a touchdown. We had a hold on another long run when we were driving.”

The loss dropped Quapaw to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in District A-7.

Foyil improved to 3-3 and 2-1.

“We played hard … we played a lot harder this week than did last week.,” Cawyer said. “That is all we can ask of them.”

Quapaw travels to Hulbert Friday, Oct. 13.
