OWASSO — Rejoice Christian quarterback Riley Walker completed 10 of 15 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns as Rejoice Christian rolled to a 58-0 victory over Quapaw here Friday, Sept. 29.

‘They are just really good; they just had better athletes,” Quapaw head coach Chris Cawyer said. “They do it right. Coach Marley (head coach Brent Marley) does a really good job with what he has. We competed and played hard, but we’re playing so many young kids and we’ve got some hurt.”

Quapaw had only 55 yards in total offense, including 8 passing.

Kale Thomasson completed 3 of 6 attempts. He also was the Cats’ leading rusher with 31 yards on 10 carries.

“The thing about them is they go to passing league, go to team camp. When they do that, they know what they are doing,” Cawyer said. “That is what we have to do: put the time in to get this program up to where it needs to be. For us to do that, we have to go to team camps. We have to go to summer leagues. We have to learn how to play this game. We jut have to start getting football savvy.”

Rejoice got 3-yard touchdown runs from Andrew Crow and Nate Anderson in the first five minutes of the game and never looked back.

Walker teamed with Brock Henson on a 22-yard TD strike late in the quarter.

The Eagles (5-0, 2-0) took charge with a 23-point second quarter as Will Brown hit a 21-yard field goal, Walker completed a 40-yard touchdown pass to Matt Nicholson, Crow went 20 and Walker and Bryce Sanchez teamed up on a 20-yard scoring play with a minute left in the half to balloon the score to 44-0.

Rejoice had two second half TDs: a 16-yard Sanchez-to=Garrett Treadway completion in the third quarter and a 2-yard run by Hunter Jennings in the fourth.

“We are still not doing a very good job with blocking up front,” Cawyer said. “We’re not staying with our blocks. We are still letting people go.”

In addition to the 31 yards from Thomasson on the ground, Quapaw got 11 from Hunter Thomasson and 9 from Austin Crouch.

Jonas Gregory had two carries for zero yards before going out with a nagging injury and Jordan Carolus lost 5 yards on his only touch.

Hunter Thomasson had two receptions for 9 yards and Carolus lost a yard on one reception.

Crow was the Eagles’ leading receiver with seven catches for 67 yards. Nicholson and Sanchez had four each and seven other players had one catch for Rejoice.

Quapaw (0-6, 0-2) hosts Foyil on Friday, Oct. 6.
