FAIRLAND — Four home runs, including two by Lilly Triplett, helped Fairland pull out a 13-9 victory over Quapaw in the deciding game of their Class 2A District 26 fast-pitch softball tournament here Thursday, Sept. 21.

The eighth-ranked Lady Owls claimed a 7-3 win in the opener.

“We swung the bats well all day, but had too many errors in the second game (four),” Fairland coach Chad Ross said. “None of their nine runs were earned. We were two outs from run rule in the fifth, up 11-0, and we all of a sudden couldn’t make a play.”

Fairland (27-5) put together five-run rallies in the first and fifth innings and got single runs in the third and sixth in the clincher.

Quapaw made things interesting by scoring four times in the fifth and five in the sixth.

The Lady Owls pushed across a final run in the top of the seventh.

In addition to the two homers by Triplett (a three-run in the first and a solo blast in the third), Fairland got round-trippers in the fifth from Savannah Hutchison (lead off) and Kyndall Davis (with two runners on board).

Davis and Hutchison also had two singles to go with their home runs.

Madison Stotts, Nikki Dingle and Chelsey Dushane had two singles each and Jenna Morgan singled.

Quapaw had four hits off Dingle: two singles by Shea Ottesen and one each by Mya Perry and Elizabeth Flaming.

Dingle reached double figures in strikeouts again, fanning 12, while walking four.
