MIAMI — The Miami sixth grade Wardogs picked up their fourth straight win with a 16-12 win Green Country Football League over Jay Saturday, Sept. 9, at Red Robertson Field.
Miami also posted wins in the fifth- (32-6) and third-grade (12-0) games.
Jay won 12-0 in the fourth grade, 9-7 in second-grade action and 35-6 in the first-grade contest.
The games wrapped up the home portion of the reguilar-season schedule for Miami, which travels to South Delaware County on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Miami 16, Jay 12
Connor Pace had both of the Wardogs’ touchdowns.
He took off on a 45-yard run in the first quarter. Shane Douthit’s PAT kick made it 8-0.
Jay scored to make it 8-6, then Pace caught a flare pass from Cale Epperson and scored on a 62-yard touchdown play. Douthit again was successful on the extra-point kick
Jay scored in the third quarter to narrow the gap to 16-12 and there was no scoring in the fourth.
Miami 32, Jay 6
Miami (3-1) set the tone for the game when Seth Davis exploded on a 55-yard run on the Dogs’ first play from scrimmage.
Davis added another 55-yard run and Chase McCormick added the conversions to make it 13-0.
A 6-yard run by McCormick and Mason Clinton’s conversion run bumped the Miami lead to 20-0 just before the half.
Jay had the only points of the second half.
Jay scored in the third quarter to cut the Miami lead to 20-6 but the Wardogs scored twice in the fourth on a 1-yard run by Garrett Morgan and a 35-yard run by Davis. Clinton’s conversion run made it 32-6.

Jay made two first quarter touchdowns stand up.
Miami is now 2-2 on the season.

After a scoreless first quarter Jake Stoner took off on a 45-yard TD run to give Miami (2-2) a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.
The Wardogs also got a 12-yard run by Stoner in the third to create what would be the final score.

Jay scored touchdowns in the first, second and third quarters.
The only points for Miami (0-4) came in the fourth quarter on a 19-yard run by Tommy Mathews and the conversion by Jacob Jordan.

Miami’s only touchdown came on a 70-yard run by Kylon Williams in the fourth quarter.
The Wardogs are 1-3.
