WYANDOTTE — Adair and Kansas went 2-0 during the first day of the Wyandotte Fall Classic fastpitch softball tournament here Thursday, Sept. 7.
Adair, ranked sixth in Class 3A, topped Welch 9-1 and Oaks 12-0 while Kansas, 10th in 2A, nipped Quapaw 3-2 and Wyandotte 6-3.
In other games Thursday, it was Welch 4, Miami 2; Fairland 11, Oaks 1; Quapaw 3, Ketchum 0, and Wyandotte 18, Ketchum 2.
Friday’s schedule at Wyandotte includes Kansas vs. Ketchum, 10 a.m.; Oktaha vs. Ketchum, 11:30 a.m.; Oktaha vs. Quapaw, 1 p.m.; Welch vs. Oaks, 2:30 p.m.; Wyandotte vs. Quapaw, 4 p.m., and Oaks vs. Miami, 5:30 p.m.
Two games will be played at Fairland: Fairland vs. Adair, 1 p.m., and Fairland vs. Miami, 2:30 p.m.
Saturday’s schedule at Wyandotte includes Adair vs. Miami, 10 a.m.; Wyandotte vs. Oktaha, 11:30 p.m.; Fairland vs. Welch, 1 p.m.; Oktaha vs. Kansas, 2:30 p.m.; third-place game, 4 p.m. and championship game, 5:30 p.m.
Adair 9, Welch 1
Welch, ranked 20th in Class B, got its only run in the second inning. That tied the game at 1-1, but the Lady Warriors went up 3-1 in the second and scored twice in the fourth and added a final four in the bottom of the fifth.
Maddie Schaper picked up two singles for Welch.
Olivia Chenoweth and Maddison Horton each had a double while Addison Chenoweth singled.
Winning pitcher Allison Primeaux collected a double and single. Atleigh Branham and Kristin Kruse added two singles each.
Rhett Looney, Kyla Rogers and Katie Huffman all had doubles.
Welch 4, Miami 2
Two runs in the top of the fifth made the difference for the Lady Wildcats.
Each team had eight hits and an error.
Olivia Chenoweth had three singles for the Lady Wildcats, who also got a two-run homer and two singles from Hailey Haskell.
Addison Chenoweth and Maddie Schaper had a single each.
Alexa Payne had three singles for the Lady Wardogs, who also got two doubles from Jordan Davis.
Losing pitcher Abby Ishmael doubled and Jordan Quapaw and Lauren Panter each had a single.
Adair 12, Oaks 0
The Lady Warriors set the tone for the game by scoring eight times in the first inning.
Primeaux blanked Oaks on four hits. She struck out three and walked none.
Rylie Looney picked up three singles for Adair while Branham and Primeaux each had two doubles. Kruse chipped in with a double and single.
Fairland 11, Oaks 1
Nikki Dingle and Lilly Triplett teamed up on a no-hitter for the Lady Owls.
Dingle started in the circle for Fairland, striking out one in one inning of work.
Triplett went the final three, allowing the Lady Warriors their line run. She struck out one and walked three.
Fairland jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first, scored three more in the second and pushed across a final two in the fourth.
Oaks scored its only run in the top of the fourth.
Savannah Hutchison had a two-run homer in the first and double.
Kyndall Davis had two singles while Madison Stotts, Makayla Jackson, Kaylee Schumacher and Tori Barker singled.
Wyandotte 18, Ketchum 2
The Lady Bears sent 14 batters to the plate while scoring 10 runs in the first inning.
They added two in the second and third then pushed across a final four in the fourth.
Haley Hart and Elizabeth Mensink had two-run double for the Lady Bears to key the 10-run first. Aranda Nair doubled home run.
Makinze Powell picked up an RBI with a bases-loaded walk and Kallie Morisset pushed in a run when a pitch hit her.
Wyandotte also got runs on two errors and a passed ball.
Ketchum got both of its runs in the first frame.
Grace Parmley delivered a two-run homer and single for the Lady Bears, who also got two doubles from Hart, a double and single from Nair and two singles from Ally Bartley.
Mensink doubled and Jennelle Lundien singles.
Mensink allowed four hits while logging seven strikeouts and no walks.
Maggi Brown had two singles for Ketchum.
Kansas 3, Quapaw 2
Quapaw had grabbed a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth only to have the Lady Comets win the game in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double by Kaylee Armbrister.
Elizabeth Flaming had a double while Shea Ottensen and Jenni Jennings chipped in with a single each for the Lady Cats.
Addison Gregory singled three times, Kelsey Guthrie and Armbrister had a double and single and Tyra Verrette had two singles.
Maggie Barnard added a single.
Kansas 6, Wyandotte 3
A three-run third made the difference for Kansas, which pushed in an insurance run in the fifth.
The Lady Bears got one run in the first and two in the second.
Wyandotte held an 8-7 edge in hits, but made three errors.
Nair and Madelyn Branham had a double and single each while Lundien chipped in with two singles.
Mensink had a triple and Bartley singled.
Kansas’ seven-hit attack included a double and single from Gregory.
Ashton Bird doubled and Ashlyn Bird, Lainie Payton, Maggie Barnard and Verrette all had singles.
