MIAMI — Despite a strong defensive effort, the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Golden Norsemen soccer team suffered an 1-0 overtime loss to State Fair Community College Friday, ug. 25, in the season opener on Red Robertson Field.

NEO continues a three-match home stand at 7 p.m. Thursday against the Panthers of Neosho County Community College of Chanute, Kansas.

Along with marking the first-ever meeting between the Golden Norse and the Roadrunners of Sedalia, Missouri, the match was NEO’s fifth shutout loss dating back to a 1-0 loss last season against Crowder College.

After battling to a scoreless tie through the first two halves, the Roadrunners (1-0) won the match on a goal by sophomore forward Aaron La Paz at the 78-minute mark.

Sophomores Landon Dove and Reece Gabbert were in goal for the Roadrunners.
