MIAMI — Miami Youth Football League teams opened their season on an impressive note
Saturday, Aug. 19, at Red Robertson Field.
Three of the games ended with shutout victories against Adair.
The third-grade Wardogs logged a 13-0 victory, the fourth graders romped 33-0 and the fifth graders coasted 21-0.
Casey Harjo and Eli Lewis each had a touchdown and Blaise Riley ran a conversion for Miami’s third graders.
In the fourth grade clash, Grant Lawless scored twice and Gavin Wyatt added a touchdown.
Ethan McKibben returned a fumble for a touchdown for the Dogs.
A 48-yard punt return by Seth Davis keyed the fifth grade win. He also had two extra point runs.
Caden Porter had a 3-yard run and the ensuing conversion.
Mason Clinton sprinted 42 yards for a Miami score.
The sixth-grade team blasted Grove 32-0.
Conner Pace had two touchdown runs for Miami with Sherman Luciano and Braylon Riley adding one each.
Riley also returned an interception for a TD.
Shane Douthit drilled a two-point conversion kick for the Dogs.
Adair posted a 26-6 win in the first-grade game. Tyler Martin had Miami’s only touchdown.
The Warriors also were a 31-0 winner in the second-grade clash.
Miami hosts Vinita Saturday, Aug. 26, with games beginning at 10 a.m.
