TULSA — Khalil Morris of Roland, who signed to play basketball with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, had a game-tying 3-point goal for the Large East in the Oklahoma Coaches Association all-state game Thursday, July 27.

He was a late addition to the East squad.

Morris finished with five points, going 2-for-3 from the field, including the game-tying trey. He also had an assist and four rebounds.

The large school game ended in a 77-77 tie. There is no provision for overtime in all-state competition.

This marks the second time during the week that a future NEO athlete has been involved in a tie.

Justin Cates of Fort Gibson battled Tanner Hawkins of Weatherford to a 5-5 tie in their 195-pound match at Sand Springs.

The Large West had led 77-67 in the final three minutes before Morris trey, assisted by Kyle Keener of Sand Springs tied the game.

The all-state football game — which features five future Norsemen — will be played at 7 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Union Tuttle Stadium.
