ST. GEORGE, Utah - Northeastern Oklahoma advance to the final eight of the NJCAA National Tournament with a tight 1-0 win over Chipola, Florida.

Lady Norse pitcher Rylee Willmon tossed a two-hit gem to lead NEO to the next round.

"Rylee through a great game," said NEO coach Eric Iverson. "She is a high-character kid just like this whole team. We might not wow you, but these are great kids that just win."

Iverson said he was impressed and proud how his team played with so much composure against a Chipola squad that "really puts pressure on you."

The lone run in the game came in the third inning.

The Lady Norse had remained alive with a wild 14-11 win over Indian Hills, Iowa, earlier Thursday.

A three-run seventh made the difference for the Lady Norse, who had to weather a four-run rally by Indian Hills in its final at-bat.

Shelby Prather, Rachel Haberman, Peyton Tellez and Libby Morris all had multi-hit games for the Northeastern A&M.

NEO advances to play Howard, 16-8 winners over Georgia Military. In the other two elimination games; San Jacinto beat Tyler, Texas, 3-2, and Florida Southwestern sent North Central Texas home, 6-2.

Play continues Saturday with four games at 1 p.m. (CDT). San Jancinto plays Florida Southwestern and Northeastern A&M plays Howard in the one-loss bracket.

In the winner's bracket, Butler plays Central Arizona and Salt Lake meets Lake Land.
