ST. GEORGE, Utah — A sacrifice fly by Mackenzie Michiner in the top of the eighth plated what turned out to be the winning run as Howard (Texas) College topped Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in an elimination game at the NJCAA National Tournament Friday afternoon.

The Lady Norse wrap up their season with a 44-10 record.

NEO had tied the game at 5-5 with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Victoria Sorokina led off the Howard half of the eighth inning with a double. Jackie Mercado followed with a single to advance Sorokina to third. Mitchiner then flew out left to score Sorokina to make it 6-5.

Mickaela Brown, who came on in relief in the seventh, got Sammy Gordon, Shelby Prather and Libby Morris on ground balls to end the game.
