WELCH —A six-run seventh inning helped Bluejacket roll to a 14-8 baseball victory over Welch here Tuesday, April 18.
The game wrapped up the regular season for both teams.
Welch (16-8) forged an 8-8 tie with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, but the Chieftains (8-5) put together their big rally in the top of the seventh.
A passed ball gave the Chieftains a 9-8 lead, then Johnny Estes had a two-run single and Charles Spiegel and Ryder Blackfox drilled RBI singles. In between, a wild pitch allowed a run to score.
James Walters, the third pitcher used by the Chieftains, got the win with 1 2/3 innings.
Blackfox went the first three innings and Pape worked 2 1/3.
Blackfox had a leadoff homer in the fourth inning as well as a double and single with two RBIs
Walters and Justin Herlan picked up two singles each while Estes, Spiegel and Justin Pape each had a single.
Nolan Schaper got a double and single and Chance Perry added two singles for the Wildcats. Seth Hayward also had a single.
Blake Brannon, the sixth of seven pitchers used by Welch, suffered the loss.
Chance Perry, Seth Perry, Seth Hayward and Schaper all worked an inning, J Peterson threw two, Brannon went 1/3 of an inning and Josh Baker finished up.
