WELCH — Blake Brannon singled home the winning run a Welch eked out a 5-4 baseball victory over Chelsea.
The Dragons had opened up a 4-1 lead with a run in the top of the fifth. Welch battled back to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning.
Chance Perry drew a one-out walk in the Wildcats’ half of the eighth inning.
Nolan Schaper reached on an error, then a walk to Gunner Johnson loaded the bases.
Brannon then drove in Perry with the winning run.
Welch’s offense included 11 singles. Seth Hayward had three hits, Perry, Schaper and Brannon collected two each and Johnson and Chapman had one hit apiece.
Brannon threw all eight innings, needing 111 pitches. He allowed seven hits and the four runs (only one was earned) with two strikeouts and two walks.
Welch had five errors in the game.
