MIAMI — Extending their current win streak to nine, the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Lady Norse travel to Wilburton for a 2 p.m. Saturday Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference double-header with Eastern State College.
Squaring off Thursday for a double-header with Division II Murray State College (23-18), the Lady Norse drubbed the Lady Aggies 19-11 in five innings and 14-6 in six innings of the second game.
With the sweep in the non-conference clash the Lady Norse sit atop the conference with a 13-1 record. NEO is 23-5 thus far on the season.
The Eastern State Lady Mountaineers are 2-12 in the OCAC and 10-25 overall.
Trailing 9-7 after three innings of the first game, the Lady Norse rallied for three runs in the fourth and nine runs in the fifth to end the game because of the eight-after-five rule.
NEO received four hits each from the top three batters in their lineup during a 21-hit barrage.
Batting in the number three slot, sophomore shortstop Libby Morris generated five runs batted in and scored three runs on four singles.
Veteran centerfielder Shelby Prather produced a double and three singles with four runs scored as the No. 2 batter.
Leadoff hitter Maci Willingham had four singles with four runs scored and one RBI.
Sophomore first baseman Rachel Haberman pounded two solo home runs (6) and a single with three runs scored and three RBIs.
Lady Norse starter Olivia Prather pitched 3.2 innings. She allowed nine runs (four earned) on seven hits. She struck out four and walked three.
Haberman worked 1.0 inning in the circle allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit.
Veteran Rylee Willmon (11-1) earned the victory by retiring the only batter she face in the fifth inning.
NEO 14, Murray 6
Willmon (12-1) returned to the circle in the second game and surrendered six runs — all earned — on seven hits. She struck out 11, walked three and allowed three home runs.
NEO grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on consecutive singles by Willingham, Shelby Prather and a RBI single by Morris.
A two-run homer by Katie Caraway (5) produced a 2-1 lead for the Lady Aggies in the top of the third inning.
The Lady Norse juggernaut erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning off Murray State reliever McKenzie Smith (12-6).
Catcher Jordan Wharton recorded three RBIs with two singles in the marathon inning. Haberman (7) added a three-run homer to fuel the outburst. Shelby Prather contributed a two-run single along with RBI singles by both Lena Sanders and Kristin Strong.
After Murray State scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Norse added two runs in the bottom of the inning and one in the sixth frame.
