RAMONA — Welch split games in the Caney Valley Tournament Friday, topping Chelsea 7-4 before falling to Hominy 13-4.

Three runs in the bottom of the third helped give Welch some separation in its game with Chelsea.

The Dragons has pulled to within a run in the top of the third. They got a final tally in the fifth.

Welch had only four hits in the game – singles by Blake Brannon, Casey Perry, Brace Welch and J Peterson.

Nolan Schaper pitched all five innings, allowing three hits and four runs — none earned as the Cats had five errors.

Schaper fanned nine and walked one.

Hominy 13, Welch 4

The Wildcats had led 3-2 heading into the fourth, when Hominy scored three times.

The Bucks broke the game open with eight runs in the top of the fifth.

Perry had two of Welch’s three hits in the game. Seth Hayward also had a single.

Brannon suffered the loss, fanning five and walking three while yielding six hits over four innings.

Perry worked the fifth, allowing four hits and seven runs.
