QUAPAW — Exploding for eight runs in the first inning, Quapaw crushed Colcord 14-1 here Tuesday.
The Wildcats sent 13 batters to the plate during the first and had another 10 go to the plate in the second while scoring another five times.
Quapaw got its final run in the third inning.
Colcord spoiled the Cats’ bid for a shutout in the top of the fourth.
Rex Burkybile and Andrew Barnes had a double and single each and Hunter Thomasson had two singles to head up an 11-hit Quapaw offensive attack.
The Wildcats played at Ketchum Saturday and hosts Colcord again on Tuesday, March 14.
Jarrett Smith, Brenden McMackin, Craig Rundell and Garrett Fox each had a single.
Colcord managed only three hits off three Wildcat pitchers.
Gregory and Burkybile each worked two innings and Nick Hemphill pitched the fifth.
Gregory and Burkybile each fanned six and Burkybile walked one while giving up two hits and the lone run.
Hemphill allowed one hit and struck out one.
Kens double and Weeks and Wyatt chipped in with a single.
