MIAMI — Northeastern Oklahoma A&M opened Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play Thursday with a 10-2 and 9-1 sweep of Eastern Oklahoma State College.

Olivia Prather (4-1) limited the Mountaineers to two hits and one earned run in the opener, then Rylee Willmon (4-1) and Rachel Haberman combined on a five-hitter in the nightcap.

The sweep bumped NEO’s record to 9-3 overall. Its games in the Crowder Bash in Joplin were cancelled Friday because of the rainy and cold weather that rolled into the area Saturday.

The Lady Norse were to have played five games in the classic on Saturday and Sunday.

NEO jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the opener, and then tacked on four runs in the second.

The Lady Norse added a final four in the sixth.

Eastern scratched out single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Designated player Maci Willingham went 4-for-4 at the plate with a triple and three singles.

Libby Morris added a double and single while Shelby Prather doubled and Hailey Seago and Peyton Tellez chipped in with a single each.

Prather struck out three and walked two while scattering two hits.
